Vermut Café

Pets welcome · 35/1 Pai Walking Street

Bring the dog, the cat, whoever travels with you. The doorman is a dog himself.

Vermut Café is pet-friendly: dogs, cats and any well-behaved pet are welcome at the tables out front and inside. The small white dog in a bow tie by the door is ours — he greets, inspects, and goes back to sleep. Pai is one of the easiest towns in Thailand to travel with a pet, and this is where the evening part of that works.

Where your pet can sit

Anywhere you sit: the lamp-lit tables on the street, the room inside, or the air-conditioned lounge upstairs. On busy nights the street tables give a dog the most room; early evening (17:00–20:00) is the calmest time. Ask the counter for a bowl of water.

House rules for four legs

Dogs leashed in the room, cats and small animals in a carrier or on your lap, please, and off the chairs. If your dog is nervous around other dogs, say so when you arrive and we will seat you away from the doorman. Walking Street itself is busy and the stalls cook on charcoal at ankle height — carry small dogs through the crowd.

Dinner for you, from the market

Bring food in from the walking-street stalls (40–80 baht a plate) and sit down with the dog at your feet — one drink per person, we bring plates and water. Small plates to share are on our menu too. Around 60 wines by the glass, cocktails, beer, mocktails and coffee.

Pet-friendly places to stay nearby

Betel Palm Village — four private villas under the palms, 2.5 km from the market — and 365 Vila Connect, a whole two-bedroom house with a BBQ garden, both welcome pets. Our neighbours at BestHotelPai list them, booked direct with the owners. Tell the host before arrival so the villa is ready for your dog.

Yes — the small white dog in a bow tie at the door. He is friendly; tell us if your dog is not keen on company and we will seat you apart.

Can I bring my dog to Pai Walking Street?

Yes, but it is crowded and the stalls cook on charcoal at ground level — carry small dogs through the busiest stretch. Early evening is calmer.
